The Seiko 5 has been the honest starting point for mechanical watch ownership since 1963. No battery, no fuss: the 7S26 winds itself from the motion of your wrist, shows day and date, and runs roughly forty-three hours at rest. Turn it over and the exhibition back lets you watch the rotor do its work.

Baby-G takes G-Shock's shock structure and scales it for a smaller wrist without softening what it does. The BA-110 layers analog hands over a digital window in a compact resin case, with 100 metres of water resistance behind it.

Sheen is Casio's dress line for women, and this is it at its most deliberate: pink gold ion plating, stones set into the bezel, and three subdials carrying date, day and a 24-hour indicator. At 32mm across it sits small and deliberately so, with 50 metres of water resistance — more than most watches that look like this will survive.

In 1974 Casio made its first wristwatch, and the Casiotron did something no watch had done: it knew how many days were in the month. Every other watch of the era needed resetting on the first. Fifty years later this reissue keeps the original's proportions almost exactly — 39.1mm across, and marginally thinner — while adding solar charging, radio time correction and Bluetooth. The same watch, and an entirely different one.
